The Healthy and Green Program
The THL Blue Healthy and Green Program is an eight-step process we use as a guide to a healthy lawn. Going from unsightly weeds to a vibrant and healthy lawn is a science, not a one-size-fits-all process. A meticulous understanding of each lawn is needed to create an eight-step program that gives your lawn life.
*Example: We may repeat Step 1 two or more times to rid your lawn of weeds and then begin Step 2.
Steps 1 through 4
Step 1
First visit (Early winter): At the first of the year we focus on unsightly weeds. We treat your lawn with a pre-emergent and post-emergent to keep your lawn vibrant and weed-free.
Step 2
Second visit (Late winter to early spring): It is time to feed your lawn. While many companies will treat your lawn with nitrogen, THL Blue treats your grassroots with our Healthy Lawn Roots fertilizer. Treating the grassroots allows your lawn to pull nutrients from the soil and begin creating a thicker, healthier lawn.
Step 3
Third visit (Mid to late spring): Now nitrogen is on the menu. The THL Blue Let’s Go Green fertilizer combines the right amount of nitrogen with other nutrients to foster a healthy, dark green lawn. We will also treat any existing weeds and gauge if a pre-emergent is needed.
*Pre-emergents do not kill your lawn but can prevent it from growing.
Step 4
Fourth visit (Late spring to early summer): Time to turn back the clock and focus on healthy lawn roots again. We treat your grassroots, so your lawn pulls the most nutrients from the soil possible. This creates a healthy, thick lawn and prepares it for summer heat. We also treat any weeds with a post-emergent.
Steps 5 through 8
Step 5
Fifth visit (Mid-summer): Rapid growth time! We treat your lawn with our Summer Lawn Guard. Your lawn is now weed-free, healthy, green, and happy. Rapid growth is the key to protecting your grassroots and preventing the summer heat from scorching your lawn. Summer Lawn Guard is food for your lawn’s soul and protects it from extreme heat.
Step 6
Sixth visit (Late summer): It’s time to show off all the hard work. We apply a light application of the THL Blue Let’s Go Green. This is designed to keep your lawn’s beautiful appearance heading into the winter. While most lawns are struggling at this time of year, your THL Blue lawn is thriving and has a dark, green, vibrant color.
Step 7
Seventh visit (Fall): It is pre-emergent time. Your neighbors have neglected their lawns, and their lawn guys cross-pollinate weeds into your yard. We have spot-treated your lawn through the summer to kill weeds, but now it is time to apply a pre-emergent that protects your lawn going into the winter. This is an excellent time to apply our THL Blue Premium Soil Conditioner to prepare your lawn for winter frost and provide a long-term feeding agent when it is impossible to water your lawn.
Step 8
Eighth visit (later winter): We soil test each client to see what each lawn needs. Each lawn is different because neighbors, neighborhoods, and temperature are factors that vary. We assess our clients lawns, apply the appropriate nutrients, and make a plan for the new year.
